Grilled Tri-Tip and Asparagus Ingredients - Tri Tip
- 1 piece of tri-tip meat, also known as triangle steak, a piece from the bottom sirloin (weighing from 2.5 to 4 pounds)
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon sea salt
- 1 tablespoon freshly ground pepper
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon garlic salt
- 2 bunches of asparagus (about 20 spears each)
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 2 teaspoons sea salt
- 2 teaspoons freshly ground pepper
Grilled Tri-Tip and Asparagus Directions
Add ingredients to prepare the tri-tip by placing the meat in a large Ziploc bag. Mix well and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
Prepare the asparagus by cutting off the bottom half inch to one inch of each spear and placing them in a large Ziploc bag. Add ingredients and mix well. Store in a cool place until ready to grill.
Prepare the grill and sear each side of the tri-tip for a couple of minutes. Lower the heat to medium and place the asparagus spears on the grill. Continue cooking the tri-tip and asparagus over medium heat until desired doneness, turning several times (usually 20-30 minutes). (Note: You must move the asparagus to the top rack or remove it altogether and cover it with foil before the tri-tip is done.)
Remove the tri-tip from the grill and let it rest for 10 minutes, then slice and serve with 5-10 spears.
